The New Orleans band Generationals rolled into Milwaukee this week. A crew of doc|UWM students took the band on a whirlwind tour of the town before documenting the band’s performance at Turner Hall.
Tuesday night, our students shot with the band at Koz’s Mini-Bowl. On Wednesday we started off with lunch at Palomino. Ted got the Blue Pig. Grant got VLT with avocado. They both noshed on fried pickle spears and fried cheese curds. Everything got washed down with some Palomino White from Lakefront Brewery. After lunch we we trekked over to Hi-Fi Cafe for coffee, did some record shopping in Rush-Mor Records, tried on hats in Luv Unlimited and found a Squeeze album at Bay View Books and Records. After the band loaded in at Turner Hall they ran over to Buck Bradley’s to see the longest bar east of the Mississippi. Of course our students and their cameras were there to document it all. In total we spent about 14 hours with the band. Now comes the challenge of editing this down into a few short minutes. But, before we get started on that we want to thank all the establishments we visited and of course, we want to thank Generationals for being such good sports.
Stay tuned for the video. While you wait check out the music of Generationals and if you are in Milwaukee please stop by all the places we’ve mentioned.
